StarSkate
Our StarSkate skaters have the opportunity to learn elements of figure skating through Skate Canada’s Star 1 - Gold program. This program consists of many levels across 4 different disciplines of skating – Freeskate, Skills, Dance, and Artistic. Star 1-5 tests are done by the skater’s coach on their regular session. Start 6+ tests are performed on designated test days throughout the year and are judged by a Skate Canada judge. Skaters also have the opportunity to compete at various competitions throughout the year.
FreeSkate
Freeskate consists of two parts: Program and Elements. A freeskate program is a unique routine containing required elements and performed to music. This can also be called a solo. Freeskate elements are jumps and spins performed in isolation. Each Star level has different required elements associated with it.
Skills
Skills consist of variety of edges, turns, spirals, field movements, and stoking exercises to help strengthen skating skills.
Dance
Dance is series of steps performed on a specific pattern to specified music.
Artistic
Artistic program begins at STAR 5. These programs give skaters a chance to interpret music through movement and further develop the performance aspect of skating.
